Grout lines can make even a beautiful bathroom feel busy. For this home in Coconut Grove, the goal was a calm, continuous space with the warmth of natural lime. We replaced the tiled, grouted surfaces with hand-burnished Tadelakt Marrakech on the walls, the shower and the niche, creating one seamless surface from floor line to ceiling.

Before / After

Before: The walls and shower had tile with visible grout joints. Every line broke up the room, and the joints in the shower called for constant upkeep to keep them looking clean.

After: The walls, shower and niche now share a single, joint-free tadelakt finish. Each pass of the burnishing stone leaves soft, organic movement and a gentle sheen, so the surface changes subtly with Miami’s natural light throughout the day. The niche flows into the wall instead of being framed by cut tile, and the whole room reads as one quiet, spa-like envelope.

Why tadelakt for a luxury bathroom

Tadelakt is a traditional Moroccan lime plaster, compacted and polished by hand with a stone and treated with natural soap, which makes the surface water-repellent. It is a mineral, breathable finish with handmade character that no tile can imitate. Daily care is simple: neutral, soap-based cleaners and no acids.
